Thafseer Lafẓī = the meaning of every word. Semester 2 continues the Semester-1 method — read the vocalized Arabic, learn the word-by-word meanings, then rebuild the translation — working through the sūrahs of Juzʾ ʿAmma in descending order. Each class takes one sūrah (occasionally part of one), covering its vocabulary, its ṣarf (word-form) notes, and the meaning of each āyah in turn. Theme and occasion of revelation stay in the background; the word-by-word meaning is the focus. Lessons appear here class-by-class as the semester progresses. The weekly Semester-2 classes are taught by Sheikh Azeem, who also taught the later Semester-1 Thafseer classes; a one-off class given at the residential programme was taught by Sheikh Akram and appears here alongside them.

One-off residential-programme class on 2026-08-01 (video 18) taught by Sheikh Akram — not the weekly series' Sheikh Azeem. It takes Sūrat al-Balad word by word from āyah 1 straight through to āyah 20, so it COMPLETES the sūrah: L03 (← v17) stopped mid-āyah 16, and āyāt 17–20 are taught here for the first time (tawāṣaw bi-ṣ-ṣabr, aṣḥāb al-maymanah / al-mashʾamah, nār muʾṣadah), along with the second half of āyah 16 (dhā matrabah). Āyāt 1–3 are re-treated from the syntax side. The angle is naḥw / particle syntax rather than ṣarf paradigms: lā zāʾidah, the three wāws (ʿaṭf / qasam / ḥāl), lā vs lam vs lan and what each does to the muḍāriʿ, the dual -āni vs -ayni, iltiqāʾ al-sākinayn in lam yara, and dhū / dhā / dhī. Closes by placing the sūrah in the daʿwah half of Juzʾ ʿAmma.

Sixth Semester-2 Thafseer class (video 20, 2026-08-11) — Sūrat al-Fajr word by word from āyah 15 to āyah 30: the sūrah is COMPLETED here. It picks up exactly where L05 stopped, re-opening on āyah 15 (fa-ammā l-insān) before running on to wa-dkhulī jannatī.
