Arabic — ABY Book 2 Part 1 العربية

Exam: Sem 2 · date TBD · العربية بين يديك Book 2 Part 1 — vocabulary, dialogues and grammar, unit by unit as classes happen.

● Ongoing — 20 lessons · 19 classes + 1 from the book · new lessons land as classes happen

Semester 2 moves to العربية بين يديك Book 2 Part 1 — the first 8 of its 16 units this semester. Each unit brings a dialogue or reading passage, its vocabulary, and the grammar the Sheikhs draw out of it. Lessons here land class by class: a lesson covers exactly what its lecture taught, no further — so an incomplete unit means the rest is coming next class.

About this course

L07–L09 are all one teaching day — the residential programme of 2026-08-01, recorded in three parts — and the recording between L08 and L09 has a gap: L09 opens inside a الفاعِل drill whose introduction was never recorded, so that topic is not taught anywhere in these lessons.

Lesson ↔ video map: L01 ← v45 (Sheikh Riyas); L02 ← v46 (Sheikh Riyas); L03 ← v47 (Sheikh Riyas); L04 ← v48 (Sheikh Riyas); L05 ← v49 (Sheikh Riyas); L06 ← v50 (Sheikh Riyas); L07 ← v51 (Sheikh Riyas, residential programme); L08 ← v52 (Sheikh Riyas, residential programme); L09 ← v53 (Sheikh Riyas, residential programme); L10 ← no recording — built from the textbook (p. ٤٥); L11 ← v56, L12 ← v54, L13 ← v55, L14 ← v57, L15 ← v58, L16 ← v59, L17 ← v60, L18 ← v61, L19 ← v62 and L20 ← v63 — none of these ten recordings names its lecturer. L16 is two-source: the recording lost four drill items, and the textbook (Unit 4, lesson 40) supplied them.

L11 has been rebuilt from its class recording. It was first published from the printed book alone, because the class was believed unrecorded; the recording (2026-08-17) reached us afterwards, so the lesson now stands on what was actually taught — the whole of the printed dialogue and a good deal more. Its number and address are unchanged, so progress on it is unaffected, and the grammar of the printed page that the class did not cover is kept in a marked section at the end of its notes.

L10 was not recorded. It was one of the classes after the residential day lost to a Zoom subscription lapse, now fixed but with no way to recover the session, so it is built from the printed book (p. ٤٥) and carries a BOOK chip in the list above. It gives the book's own material and not the lecturer's emphasis or his exam pointers — read it as the text, not as the class.
