Lesson 1 — Question words — the 6 decisionsopen lesson →
Six decisions answer almost every Q3 item. Run them in order.
  1. Could the answer be yes / no? → هَلْ
  2. Asking about a person? → مَنْ
  3. حال in the sentence? → كَيْفَ (كيف حالك)
  4. "What" + noun (اسم، هذا) → مَا  ·  "what" + verbمَاذَا
  5. Counting? (singular noun follows, often ـً) → كَمْ
  6. Place → أَيْنَ · origin/country → مِنْ أَيْنَ · time → مَتَى · reason → لِمَاذَا · "which X" → فِيْ أَيِّ
🎯 Exam tactic: the paper gives a bank of 10 words for 10 blanks — each is used about once. Fill the certain ones first, then place the leftovers by elimination.

Lesson 3 — Unit 6 — Prayer grammaropen lesson →
Six points carry Unit 6. Learn each with its example.
  1. The command (الأمر / imperative). Take the present verb, drop its prefix, add a helping start: يَسْتَيْقِظُ → اِسْتَيْقِظْ wake up! يَضَعُ → ضَعْ · يَنْتَظِرُ → اِنْتَظِرْ · يَقْرَأُ → اِقْرَأْ · يَأْكُلُ → كُلْ
  2. Why? → because. لِماذا + present verb; the answer starts with لِأنّ or just لِـ. لِماذا تُصَلّي في البَيْتِ؟ — لِأنّي لا أَسْمَعُ الأَذانَ. لِماذا أنتَ مُسافِرٌ؟ — لِلصَّلاةِ في المَسْجِدِ الحَرامِ.
  3. Joining with «and» (العطف بالواو). Link a list with وَ: أُصَلّي الظُّهْرَ والعَصْرَ والمَغْرِبَ والعِشاءَ.
  4. Subject + predicate (مبتدأ وخبر). Definite noun + describing word — no verb «is» needed: المَسْجِدُ قَريبٌ. · المَسْجِدُ بَعيدٌ. · الصَّلاةُ في المَسْجِدِ أَفْضَلُ. · أنتَ كَسْلانُ.

PointRecall
Imperative — 3-letter ruleDrop the present prefix, add a prefix ا; its vowel = ḍammah if the present's middle vowel is ḍammah (يَكْتُبُ→اُكْتُبْ), else kasrah (يَضْرِبُ→اِضْرِبْ, يَفْتَحُ→اِفْتَحْ)
Imperative — initial-wāwThe wāw drops, so no prefix, just a final sukūn: يَضَعُ→ضَعْ, يَعِدُ→عِدْ, يَقِفُ→قِفْ
Imperative — 4/5/6-letterKeep the present verb, put a sukūn on the last letter: جَاهَدَ→جاهِدْ, أَكْرَمَ→أَكْرِمْ, اِسْتَيْقَظَ→اِسْتَيْقِظْ

هَلْ questionsTurn a statement into yes/no; answered with نَعَم (yes) or لا (no)
كَيْفَ + future سـكَيْفَ سَتُسافِرُ؟ — the سـ prefix makes the verb future
ism al-fāʿil (participle)ذاهِب "going" · مُسافِر "travelling"; أنا ذاهِبٌ إلى… answers إلى أَيْنَ…؟
Jumuʿah locationPrayed in المَسْجِد الجامِع (the grand/congregational mosque)

  2. The future سـ. Add سـ to the present: أَكونُ → سَأَكونُ مُدَرِّسةً · أَعْمَلُ → سَأَعْمَلُ I will be / I will work
  3. «or» (أو). Offers a choice between two things: أَذْهَبُ إلى المَكْتَبةِ أو المُخْتَبَرِ.
  4. near to / far from. Note the matching preposition: قَريبٌ مِن البَيْتِ near to · بَعيدٌ عَنِ البَيْتِ far from
  5. «in which…?» (في أَيِّ). Followed by a noun, then a verb: في أَيِّ كُلِّيّةٍ تَدْرُسينَ؟ · في أَيِّ جامِعةٍ تَدْرُسُ؟
